Raleigh Co. students to participate in Bill Withers Lovely Day Youth Art, Music, and Literature Contest

BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – Are you a fan of Bill Withers? If so, this competition is for you.

The Bill Withers Community is looking for creations by local youth.

These creations include art, literature, and music.

Brush fires continue to blaze across southern West Virginia

Any child in Raleigh County can submit their work by May 24, 2024.

There are two age categories: first through fifth grade and sixth through twelfth grade.

Microsoft dodges UK antitrust scrutiny over its Mistral AI stake
Microsoft won't be facing antitrust scrutiny in the U.K. over its recent investment in French AI startup, Mistral AI, with the country's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on Friday concluding that the partnership "does not qualify for investigation under the merger provisions of the Enterprise Act 2002." The decision comes three weeks after the CMA revealed a trio of early-stage probes into Amazon and Microsoft's various AI investments and partnerships, including the Redmond-based company's $16 million investment in Mistral AI, an OpenAI rival working on large language models. Shortly after, Microsoft hired the team behind Inflection AI, another OpenAI rival, essentially gutting the startup.

Sony Music warns tech companies over 'unauthorized' use of its content to train AI
The letter, which was obtained by TechCrunch, says Sony Music has “reason to believe” that the recipients of the letter “may already have made unauthorized uses” of its content. The company’s portfolio of artists includes numerous notable artists like Harry Styles, Beyoncé, Adele and Celine Dion. “We support artists and songwriters taking the lead in embracing new technologies in support of their art,” Sony Music said in a statement.
