Park worker finds puppy in drawstring bag in Hamilton

On Wednesday morning, an L.J. Smith Park worker found the little puppy in a drawstring bag shut all the way. Authorities believe the canine was left to die as there was no food or water around him, and the bag had been tightly drawn shut. While the puppy looked healthy, he had a sad, defeated look, Fox 19 reported.

Authorities aren’t sure about the identity of the dog’s owner and are still investigating. However, they have asked for the public’s help in identifying the drawstring bag, which reportedly has a white bull logo on a black base. The drawstring bag also has the words “strength” and “speed” written on it.

The puppy has been named Ryder by the animal shelter where the dog was taken to by the authorities, as per the update they provided through a Facebook post. Animal Friends Humane Society stated that the little one is doing much better. Moreover, after the news was released, several people reached out to adopt the pup. However, the shelter must legally wait at least three days before making the canine available for adoption.

The shelter has determined Ryder to be about 2-3 months old, per Fox 19. They noted that the canine wasn’t behaving like a normal puppy when first brought in. He was tired and weak, which could be a result of dehydration and the traumatic experience of being stuffed in a closed drawstring bag.

Fortunately, Animal Friends Humane Society has safely ruled out illnesses, as Ryder tested negative for parvo. He has also been vaccinated and dewormed, so all he needs is some time to rest to regain his strength. They also stated that despite everything the pup has been through, he was willing to eat, which is always a good sign.
