Since 1872, Pueblo has been the host city for the Colorado State Fair, showcasing a variety of community activities distinct to Colorado. The fair highlights the famous Pueblo Chile and includes events that commemorate Pueblo’s rich agricultural history.

“We recognize Pueblo’s many important contributions to our state. Today, as the Pueblo flag flies over the State Capitol for the first time we are celebrating all things Pueblo,” said Governor Jared Polis.

In honor of Pueblo Flag Day, the City of Pueblo also raised the flag during a ceremony on Friday at the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce. Nearly 70 people gathered to hear statements from the Mayor of Pueblo, Heather Graham, and other members of city leadership. The Pueblo Flag was raised along with the American Flag, as community members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce Leadership Pueblo Class of 2023 initiated the day to encourage people and businesses to demonstrate their pride in Pueblo and Colorado by flying the flag. The City of Pueblo was incorporated on March 22 of 1870, inspiring the Leadership Pueblo Class to choose this day as the Pueblo Flag Day. Businesses, organizations and community members were encouraged to hang the city flags on buildings and display flag bumper stickers to honor their city.

“I’m extremely proud to have this Pueblo Flag Day initiative started by our own citizens and supported by so many of our community members,” said Mayor of Pueblo Heather Graham. “This is an opportunity for us to reflect on why we love our city so much—for the diversity, culture, traditions, art, rich history, food, and long generational ties.”
