Public safety report: April 8-11, 2024

MONDAY, APRIL 8

8:23 a.m. La Grande police received a call about a suspicious person at Bud Jackson’s Eatery and Taps. The caller requested the individual be trespassed. An officer reached out and took the information before attempting to locate the subject.

10:44 a.m. La Grande police responded to Cooper Auto Sales for a report of a transient camp and asked the subject to move along.

11:20 a.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office took an animal complaint from the 1900 block of Third Street in La Grande. An animal enforcement officer advised.

11:47 a.m. La Grande police responded to Greenwood Elementary School for a report of a suspicious person. An officer made contact and counseled the individual.

12:14 p.m. La Grande police took a report for criminal mischief at Eastern Oregon University.

1:50 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about a domestic disturbance on the 2600 block of Bearco Loop. Officers responded and separated the parties.

2:19 p.m. Hermiston Police Department arrested Ben Jay Davison Jr., 52, on a Union County probation violation warrant charging first-degree theft.

3:14 p.m. La Grande police received a call about a suspicious person at U Avenue and Maple Street. Officers responded and took the information.

7:33 p.m. La Grande police received a call about fireworks on the 3000 block of Q Avenue. An officer made contact and took the information.

7:53 p.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office trespassed a subject from the 100 block of E Street in North Powder.

TUESDAY, APRIL 9

4:29 a.m. A caller told La Grande police about suspicious circumstances at Les Schwab Tire Center. Officers responded and trespassed three subjects.

7:04 a.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about pigs loose on the 70300 block of Summerville Road. An animal enforcement officer made contact and found that the pigs had returned home.

7:51 a.m. A caller told La Grande police about a disturbance at Adams Avenue and 20th Street. The responding officers determined the disturbance was only verbal and separated the parties.

8:26 a.m. La Grande police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 600 block of 18th Street. The officers counseled the subjects and separated them.

11:21 a.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about possible animal neglect on the 68000 block of Hunter Road in Summerville. An animal enforcement officer reached out and took the information.

11:26 a.m. La Grande police responded to Washington and Island avenues for a report of a domestic disturbance. The officers determined the situation was not physical and warned one individual for disorderly conduct.

12:16 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about a disturbance at Candy Cane Park. The responding officers counseled the subjects and warned them for disorderly conduct.

12:36 p.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the 800 block of Main Street in Cove about an assault. A deputy reached out and took the information. The caller was advised to reach out to the school resource officer.

1:45 p.m. La Grande police took a report of a theft on the 1600 block of Seventh Street.

1:47 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about drug paraphernalia found near Grace Bible Church. The responding officer gathered and properly disposed of the items.

2:57 p.m. A caller told the Union County Sheriff’s Office about livestock loose on the 62100 block of Evergreen Road in La Grande. An animal enforcement officer advised and the owner retrieved the goats.

3:47 p.m. La Grande police took a report of a runaway on the 3000 block of Q Avenue.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10

4:47 a.m. Police received a call about a suspicious person at Club 24 La Grande. Officers responded and trespassed one subject.

6:53 a.m. La Grande police received a call from the 2200 block of Fir Street about a stolen vehicle. An officer responded and took a report for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

8:52 a.m. A caller informed La Grande police about littering at Walnut Street and Grandy Avenue. An officer responded and removed the debris from the road.

12:42 p.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a disturbance at Panda Express in Island City. Deputies responded and the subjects separated upon law enforcement arrival.

3:47 p.m. La Grande police responded to 26th Street and Mulholland Drive for a report of a transient camp. The officer trespassed one subject.

6:48 p.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the 69600 block of Antles Lane in Cove about a possible missing person. A deputy made contact and the subject was located.

7:10 p.m. La Grande police took a report of shoplifting at Safeway.

8:08 p.m. A caller from Union requested assistance from the Union County Sheriff’s Office with a juvenile. A deputy reached out and explained the available options.

8:17 p.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a disturbance on the 400 block of West Fulton Street in Union.

9:51 p.m. Law enforcement took a report of a dog bite on the 1700 block of Z Avenue in La Grande.

THURSDAY, APRIL 11

12:37 a.m. La Grande police received a call about a runaway from the 3000 block of Q Avenue. An officer reached out and explained the available options.

7:17 a.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert Joseph Noel, 53, for a restraining order violation.

7:33 a.m. La Grande police took a report for the theft of a bicycle from the 3200 block of Walnut Street.

9:40 a.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office took the information for a hit-and-run at Taco Bell in Island City.

10 a.m. La Grande police warned one subject for disorderly conduct during a field interrogation at Greenwood Street and Madison Avenue.

12:25 p.m. La Grande police arrested Amy Louise Williams, 47, on a warrant for second-degree sex abuse.

12:28 p.m. A caller informed the Union County Sheriff’s Office about a suspicious person at Walmart in Island City. Deputies responded and arrested Steven Benson Cordell, 33, on a Umatilla County probation violation warrant and an Oregon State parole board warrant. Cordell was additionally charged with second-degree theft, giving false information to a peace officer and computer crime.

2:55 p.m. A caller told La Grande police about a possible minor in possession of alcohol on the 300 block of Polk Avenue. Medical was dispatched and officers responded.

3:11 p.m. La Grande police responded to Dairy Queen for a report of a traffic hazard and resolved the situation.

5:11 p.m. La Grande police received a call about a located runaway at Y Avenue and Spruce Street. An officer advised.

5:52 p.m. La Grande police responded to La Grande Chevron Foodmart for a report of a disturbance. The officers counseled the subject.

6:43 p.m. While doing follow-up on Gordon Creek Road in Elgin, the Union County Sheriff’s office arrested Dustin John Mathis, 32, on an Oregon State parole board warrant.

9:33 p.m. La Grande police received a call about a drug law violation on the 3200 block of Columbia Street. An officer responded and cited a juvenile.

10 p.m. Union County Sheriff’s Office responded to C&M Country Store in Island City for a burglary alarm. The party responsible for the property also responded. Law enforcement determined the building was secured.
