PUBLIC NOTICE: Lee County Highway Dept. to close Lee Rd. 183 for culvert replacement

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) – The Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) said that the Lee County Highway Department will close a portion of Lee Road 183 for three days starting April 1.

The road closure is due to a scheduled culvert replacement and will encompass two-tenths of a mile south of the intersection of Lee Road 184 and Lee Road 183.

LCSO says traffic must use a detour route and that detour signs will be in place once road work starts. LCSO provided the following detour routes for motorists traveling north and south:

For those traveling north –

  • At the intersection of Lee Road 183 and U.S. 280, travel west on U.S. 280 for 3.5 miles to the intersection of Lee Road 158 and U.S. 280. Turn right onto Lee Road 158 and travel northeast 2.3 miles to the intersection of Lee Road 183 and Lee Road 158. Next, turn right onto Lee Road 183.

For those traveling south –

  • Motorists traveling south will use the same route above but it will be traveled in the opposite direction.
