Public memorial services for Sade Robinson scheduled for May 10 and 11 at Baird Center

Sade Robinson’s memorial service will be held on her 20th birthday, May 10, at the Baird Center, and will continue into the weekend, organizers announced Friday.

The event will include a celebration of life from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on the third floor of the Baird Center, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., according to Erika Brown, the event’s organizer.

A closed reception will follow, with a public reception scheduled for Saturday. Further details are not yet available, Brown said.

Robinson, 19, was killed and dismembered in early April, a crime that has shaken much of the Milwaukee area. She graduated high school a semester early and was a month away from earning an associates degree in criminal justice at Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Family have said Robinson considered following other family members who served in the military by pursuing a career in the U.S. Air Force.

In the month since her death, much of Milwaukee has rallied around her and her family by displaying her favorite color, pink. Community members have decorated the home of her suspected killer in pink items and the lights of Hoan Bridge have also turned pink.

Robinson’s family has also set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for memorial services. With a stated goal of $30,000, the page raised nearly $64,000 as of midday Friday.

Law enforcement have arrested and charged 33-year-old Maxwell Anderson with first-degree intentional homicide in the case.

Details of the memorial service came Friday.
