It's Primary Election Day in Kentucky. Here's who's on the ballot around Louisville

Early voting has closed, and Election Day for Kentucky's 2024 primaries is set for Tuesday, with plenty on the line in Louisville and the surrounding region.

The primary races decided Tuesday will determine which candidates will be on the ballot in this year's general election, set for Nov. 5. The election this year is about more than our next U.S. president — every Kentucky House seat and all odd-numbered state Senate seats are on the line, along with several other local races such as Metro Council.

Here's a breakdown of races that will appear on ballots in Jefferson County, as well as some of our surrounding counties in Kentucky (Indiana's primary elections took place earlier this month). Many of these races deal with smaller districts inside the county, meaning not every Jefferson County race will appear on every ballot in Jefferson County. You can check out a sample ballot for your district by inputting your address in a portal on the county clerk's website. Additionally, this list does not include primary races with just one candidate.

Polls close Tuesday at 6 p.m., and results should begin to roll in soon after. Keep up with the action that evening through updating coverage at courier-journal.com.
