New prices announced for Miami City Pool this summer

MIAMI, Okla. — Visitors to the Miami City Pool will be paying more to use it this summer.

Officials said the cost of admission hasn’t gone up since 2016 but, thanks to action taken by the city council, that will change this summer.

Adults and kids at least 6-years old will have to pay $5. Kids 6 and under will continue to get in for free. And there’s more that could change than just admission prices.

The facility was built back in the 1930’s and will eventually need to be replaced.

“If the liner becomes damaged, we’re not able to put another liner in the pool so we’re ever hopeful that it doesn’t, but if it does, we are looking and we are in the process of designing and developing plans for a new pool in the future,” said Mingori.

Mingori said the facility is in a flood zone and damage from flooding can ruin pumps, as well as the pool’s liner. The next time the liner fails, he says the pool will have to be shut down permanently.

One of the possible locations to build a new one is on the same plot of ground as the city’s splash pad.
