The first trailer for Pretty Little Liars: Summer School’s second season has arrived, teasing a new villain who is set to wreak more havoc for the Millwood teens.

It was recently announced that the spin-off series, which was subtitled Original Sin for its first season, will return for season two on May 9. An Instagram post from the show's official account teased that "It's gonna be A killer summer".

Fans have now been provided with a first-look trailer for the upcoming batch of episodes, which opens with the core group of girls being told that "'A' is on death row" and can no longer hurt them.

However, it’s not long before another twisted villain known as 'Bloody Rose' begins terrorising them at summer school.

The official synopsis for season two reads: "Following the harrowing events of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, our Pretty Little Liars face a fate worse than death – summer school.

"However, Millwood High isn’t the only thing getting in the way of their fun summer jobs and new, dreamy love interests. A new villain, who may or may not have a connection to A, has come to town and is going to put them all to the test."

Bailee Madison reprises her role as Imogen in the upcoming season, alongside Chandler Kinney as Tabitha, Zaria as Faran, Malia Pyles as Minnie, and Maia Reficco as Noa.

Season two will also give a more prominent role to Jordan Gonzalez’s character Ash Romero, the first transmasculine character in the franchise.

"I never was very good at getting my school work finished, guess I'll have to spend some extra time in Summer School," said Gonzalez upon the announcement. "A massive thank you to everyone who has been on and supported this journey with me. Words will never be enough gratitude. Let the lies continue."

Meanwhile, original PLL cast member Annabeth Gish reprises her role as Dr Anne Sullivan, who also features in the trailer.

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School will stream on Max in the US and BBC iPlayer in the UK.
