May 4—Last weekend, the Corsicana Preservation Foundation Board of Directors were notified that Joan Jester Berry, daughter of Governor Beauford H. Jester, had passed away in Houston on April 7, and was to be buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana on Monday, April 22.

While the City Parks Department has done an excellent job overseeing the perpetual care program in the city's cemetery, it was brought to our attention that the gravesite could use some tidying up in preparation for the arrival of the Jester family from Houston.

The following volunteers came out and spent two hours pruning and shaping the hedges, hauling away brush and trash — Sue Cook, Brad Cook, Amy Tidwell, Sharon Goodman, Lauren Bedsole, Enoch Basnett, Jay Basnett, Emma Basnett, and Betsy Stroder.

The board received assistance answering guidance from Sharla Allen and the Corsicana Parks and Recreation Department.
