Prescription drug takeback event set for Saturday at Wegmans locations

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – If you have expired or unwanted medications laying around and shop at Wegmans, you’ll have an opportunity to get rid of them this weekend.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday, April 27, the New York-based grocer is partnering with law enforcement agencies to host prescription medication drop-off events at stores across the Mid-Atlantic region, including at two stores here in the Midstate.

The free event, which is anonymous with no questions asked, Wegmans says, will help “remove potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs” from homes.

Getting rid of such drugs will help prevent accidental poisonings and overdoses.

Only pills and patches will be accepted.
