Power outages affect customers in multiple counties across Tennessee Valley

(WHNT) — Power outages affected hundreds of customers in multiple counties across the Tennessee Valley after severe storms made their way through the area overnight.

While outages affected much of the Tennessee Valley Monday morning, power was being restored for many by Monday Afternoon.

According to the Jackson County Emergency Management Agency, there are nearly 3,000 people without power as of 4:24 a.m. As of 11:04 a.m. Monday, the Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative was only reporting 500 people without power in the Mentone area and about 400 customers without power in the Bryant and Flat Out areas.

In Madison County, just over 1,107 Huntsville Utilities (HU) customers are without power as of 2 p.m. due to 23 active outages. If you are a customer of HU, you can report an outage by calling (256) 535-4448.

A spokesperson for HU said that a large outage that impacted the Harvest area was cleared as of 4:35 a.m. after crews found and removed a large tree limb from power lines – restoring service to around 1,400 customers.

According to the outage map, no Decatur Utilities customers remain without power as of 2 p.m.

As of 2 p.m., the Florence Utilities outage map shows that just five customers are also dealing with a loss of power due to three different outages.
