Portion of Route 15 in Adams County to close over the weekend
ADAMS COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) – If you’re traveling between Gettysburg and Emmitsburg this weekend via U.S. Route 15 this weekend, you will encounter a detour.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, PennDOT says the highway will be closed in both directions just south of Steinwehr Avenue in Freedom Township, the last exit in Pennsylvania.
The closure is to allow a PennDOT contractor to replace a pipe as part of a pavement preservation project.
Northbound traffic will be detoured via the Welty Road intersection in Maryland, north on Old Gettysburg Road/Emmitsburg Road, and back onto the highway. Southbound traffic will exit at Steinwehr Avenue, follow Emmitsburg Road, and re-enter on Welty Road in Maryland.
Flaggers will be present at Welty Road. The closure will last until 6 a.m. Monday.
In the event of rain, the work will be delayed until next weekend, May 3-6.
