Portion of I-24 reopens following multi-vehicle crash in Antioch

ANTIOCH, Tenn. (WKRN) — A portion of Interstate 24 has reopened following a Sunday morning crash that involved multiple vehicles.

According TDOT’s online traffic map, the crash was reported at approximately 4:21 a.m. on Sunday, May 26 in the eastbound lanes of I-24 at mile marker 58.6 between Bell Road and Haywood Lane.

At 5 a.m., TDOT’s cameras showed that traffic was backed up for several miles in the eastbound lanes as crews worked to clear the crash site.

Just after 5:30 a.m., crews were seen opening the left lane of traffic along I-24 East as vehicles were towed away from the scene.

At 6:30 a.m., crews reopened the two left lanes of traffic, but the two right lanes remain blocked. Then, just before 7:30 a.m., the last vehicle was towed away from the right lane. All lanes of traffic have since reopened.

News 2 has reached out to law enforcement to learn what led to the crash and if any injuries were sustained to those who were involved.
