Portage County plans resource fair for those re-entering workforce

The OhioMeansJobs division of Portage County Job and Family Services plans a Reentry Resource Fair from 1 to 4 p.m. April 18. The event will be at the OMJ offices at 253 S. Chestnut St. in Ravenna.

The Reentry Resource Fair will provide people who were previously involved with the justice system access to services to help them reintegrate into the community and ultimately obtain employment.

The Portage County Job and Family Services Reentry Resource Fair is free and open to any individual who might benefit from the services. For information, contact Bridget Stuntz, PCJFS case manager, at 330-297-3754 or Bridget.Stuntz@jfs.ohio.gov.

The event will help with opportunities and services such as:

  • Assistance in obtaining photo identification, Social Security cards, birth certificates and public assistance benefits.

  • Obtaining Certificates of Qualification for Employment.

  • Transportation assistance, bus passes or gas cards.

  • BMV reinstatement fees, amnesty and reduction.

  • Work readiness and training opportunities.

  • Second-chance employers available on-site.

  • Assistance with child support.

  • Financial literacy and credit counseling.

  • Citizen Circle community partners.
