Political analysts weigh-in on CD-20 special election results

BAKERSFIELD, Calif., (KGET)—Regarding the recent CD-20 Special Election results, political analysts, Republican Cathy Abernathy, and Democrat Marisa Woods, joined 17 News at Sunrise with a political analysis.

Woods thoughts on Fong’s lead in the race believes it to be an accurate voter turnout as most of the voters turned out to be the same, “…sixty-five and plus aged group.” Woods believes this to be the reason as to why Fong has the lead and, as she said, many did not know of the CD-20 special election.

Abernathy believes it is not unusual to uphold a special election.

Republican Abernathy says, “there are probably eighty special elections going on in the state every year…It is not unusual, and it is not unusual across the country. I find it kind of humorous to be concerned that the voters are overwhelmed because, my goodness, we hand them a ballot in their home, and they just have to vote and turn them in.”
