Police: Local man strangled, killed woman

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) — Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Lochness Drive in Concord Township Friday around 7 p.m., “In reference to a male who had reportedly attempted to commit suicide after killing his girlfriend,” according to Chief Deputy Robert Izzo.

Izzo said that deputies arrived on the scene and found a 54-year-old Concord Township man in his garage bleeding excessively from apparent self-inflicted wounds and that further investigation of the scene found a 47-year-old Concord Township woman inside the residence deceased.

“It was learned the male and female victim had been involved in a relationship and resided at the location together,” Izzo said.

“The initial investigation revealed the male killed the female by means of strangulation/suffocation and then attempted to commit suicide unsuccessfully as he was found with numerous self-inflicted knife wounds. The male was transported to Tri-Point Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. As noted, the female victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene. This matter remains under investigation at this time,” Izzo stated.
