Police identify pedestrian who died a week after being stuck by a motorist who fled scene

A 53-year-old man who died a week after being struck by a vehicle that left the scene has been identified by Delaware State Police as Jorge Arango of the Newark-area.

Police continue to search for the motorist who fled after striking Arango as he crossed a crosswalk in Ogletown on April 16.

Arango, police said, was walking on a crosswalk on Kingston Road at East Chestnut Hill Road when an unknown vehicle struck him about 8:15 a.m.

The striking vehicle fled in an unknown direction, police said. The make and model of the striking vehicle are unknown.

Arango was taken to an area hospital where he died on Tuesday from injuries sustained in the crash, police said.

Troopers ask that anyone who witnessed the crash to contact investigators at (302) 365-8483. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-3333.
