Police make arrest after weekend shooting left 65-year-old woman dead in Virginia Beach

A woman was killed in a shooting Sunday night, and Virginia Beach police arrested a man Monday.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired at 9:25 p.m. on Sunday in the 3800 block of Virginia Beach Boulevard, according to a release. They found Robin Tillery, 65, dead from gunshot wounds.

Officers arrested Louis Bernard Lee Jr., 47, of Norfolk, on Monday evening and charged him with second-degree murder, use of a firearm and use of a firearm by a felon.

Police did not disclose how or if Tillery knew Lee.

Police put out a release about the shooting and the arrest Tuesday morning — well over 24 hours after the shooting. A police spokesperson said detectives had a good lead on a suspect Sunday night, and wanted to make the arrest before publishing a news release.
