Police activity near Golden Gate Park resolved

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Police activity in the area of Stanyan Street between Oak and Fulton streets has been resolved, according to the San Francisco Department of Emergency Management. Emergency crews were on the scene earlier.

Officials advised drivers to expect traffic delays, consider alternate routes and allow for additional travel time. The activity was related into a police investigation into auto burglaries, officials said.

The San Francisco Police Department said officers detained possible auto burglary suspects around 10 a.m. in the area. The suspects are possibly connected to a series of auto burglaries around San Francisco, according to SFPD Officer Robert Rueca.

Stanyan between Oak and Fulton runs adjacent to the eastern edge of Golden Gate Park. There are also a number of hospitals and medical centers in the area.

The activity impacted several transit lines, according to the San Francisco Municipal Transit Authority. Reroutes and delays are possible on routes: 5, 5R, 7 and 33, according to SFMTA.
