Planning for graduation or summer holidays? Here's what to know about Corpus Christi ISD

With spring break underway, two and a half months remain of the 2023-24 school year.

For those planning for the summer and beyond, Corpus Christi ISD has already announced plans for the 2024-25 school year.

What to know about graduation and the remainder of 2023-24

Corpus Christi ISD, which approved both this year's and next year's calendars in 2022 to allow families to plan ahead, will conclude the spring 2024 semester on Thursday, May 30.

Once students return from spring break Monday, March 18, only a few holidays remain — Good Friday and Easter Monday on March 29 and April 1 and Memorial Day on May 27.

The district has also announced graduation ceremony dates:

  • Branch Academy — 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 18 at Del Mar College's Richardson Performance Hall

  • Collegiate High School — 2-3 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at Del Mar College's Richardson Performance Hall

  • King High School — 10 a.m.-noon Friday, May 31 at American Bank Center Arena

  • Miller High School — 2-4 p.m. Friday, May 31 at American Bank Center Arena

  • Veterans Memorial High School — 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 31 at American Bank Center Arena

  • Moody High School — 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, June 1 at American Bank Center Arena

  • Ray High School — 2-4 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at American Bank Center Arena

  • Carroll High School — 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at American Bank Center Arena

  • Coles High School — 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 6 at the Veterans Memorial High School auditorium

  • Summer graduation — 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Veterans Memorial High School auditorium

For the graduation ceremonies at Del Mar College and the American Bank Center, doors open one hour before each event. For the Coles High School and summer graduation ceremonies, doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

What to know about next year's calendar

Students will return to school for the next school year on Monday, August 12. Staff return for professional development and planning on Aug. 1.

The full calendars for both 2023-24 and 2024-25 are available online.

Next year, students and staff can look forward to holidays on Sept. 2 for Labor Day, Oct. 18, Nov. 25-29 for Thanksgiving, Dec. 23-Jan. 3 for winter break, Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, March 10-14 for spring break, April 18 for Good Friday, April 21 for Easter Monday and May 26 for Memorial Day.

An intersession is also planned for Oct. 14-17, and Aug. 30, Oct. 11, Nov. 22, Jan. 6 and Feb. 14 are additional student holidays.

The 2024-25 school year ends May 29, including 174 instructional days.

Compared to this year, next year's calendar has the same amount of total instructional days, but a slightly different distribution, with two days fewer in the fall semester and two days more in the spring semester.
