Pinpoint Weather: Winds get stronger

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A Wind Advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. on Friday for the Roanoke Valley, northern New River Valley and Highlands. Gusts to 50 mph are possible.

Windy conditions will continue into the day on Friday, getting stronger around midday. Wind gusts to 40 mph are possible. Wind speeds will decrease Friday night but increase again on Saturday.

Clear conditions will continue for the next couple of days with any showers Friday and Saturday remaining in the Highlands. The rain potential drops southward toward Route 460 on Sunday.

With sunshine returning, temperatures will continue to trend higher with Friday morning starting cool as slightly colder air filters in.

Temperatures will continue to trend warmer into the weekend and early next week. By Wednesday, a cold front will move into the region, dropping temperatures below average for mid to late week.
