Pinpoint Weather: Showers and storms, some strong to severe

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — This afternoon showers move through southwest and southside Virginia with a chance of strong to severe storms. Though marginal, the greatest threats are brief periods of heavy rainfall and damaging wind and hail.

Friday’s severe weather threat stays to our west but the potential for isolated severe storms grows over much of our region for Saturday.

Showers and storms are possible through the weekend. Our Futurecast shows the typical afternoon and evening storms through Saturday.

The threat of showers and storms blankets the holiday weekend. Stay weather aware and be prepared to take shelter should thunder be heard as a storm approaches.

For Friday, the morning will be in the 50s and 60s and afternoon temperatures will range from the mid-70s to mid-80s.

These warm temperatures are a little above normal for the season.
