Pinpoint Weather: Cool and calm Thursday, warm-up ahead

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Slightly cooler conditions are slated for the end of the work week in Southwest and Central Virginia. However, a big warm-up is ahead as we approach the end of April.

An area of high pressure will allow for dry and quiet weather on Thursday. Morning temperatures will start in the 40s and lower 50s. By the afternoon, temperatures will reach the 60s and lower 70s. Mostly sunny skies will be overhead for much of the morning before clouds begin to increase during the afternoon and evening.

Expect partly to mostly cloudy skies on Friday with highs in the upper 50s and 60s. Isolated rain showers and drizzle are possible, but much of the region will stay mostly dry.

Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a few hit-or-miss rain showers possible. Morning temperatures will start in the 40s and lower 50s. Afternoon highs will be in the middle and upper 60s.

Overall, Sunday looks mostly dry with a mix of sun and clouds overhead. Warm southerly flow will allow temperatures to rise into the 70s and lower 80s by the afternoon.

The summer-like temperatures will linger for the end of April. For Monday and Tuesday, afternoon temperatures will warm up to the upper 70s and into the middle 80s. Monday will be mostly dry, but some showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday as a cold front moves through.
