HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) – Pennsylvania State Representative Kevin Boyle (D-Philadelphia) had his security privileges revoked in February after a disturbing video appeared to show him intoxicated and threatening patrons inside a bar.

According to Elizabeth Rementer, Press Secretary for the Office of the Democratic House Majority Leader Matt Bradford, Boyle must enter the Capitol Complex through the main public security checkpoint.

Once inside the capitol, Boyle must remain with Capitol security at their station until a member of the House Democratic leadership team can escort him within the building.

“The Speaker and Leader continue to encourage their colleague and dear friend to seek help,” said Rementer.

The more than three-minute video that emerged in February showed Boyle repeatedly refusing to leave the bar and threatening to close it, saying “I can f—— end this bar by the way.”

Boyle later adds “this bar is done! Do you know who the f— I am? This bar is done tomorrow!”

Boyle, 44, also repeatedly calls patrons and staff “actors” and members of the military, threatening to “prevent (their) promotion.”

Democratic House leadership had called the incident “very troubling” and said Boyle was being encouraged to seek help.

Boyle has served in the State House since 2011 and is currently Chair of the State Insurance Committee. He won re-election for his 172nd House District seat in 2022 with 57% of the vote.

Boyle has filed to run for his State House again in April against primary challenger Sean Dougherty.

The 172nd District covers part of Philadelphia’s Fox Chase neighborhood near Cheltenham.

He is the brother of United States Representative Brendan Boyle.
