Peace Scholarship Committee honors students

May 26—The Peace Scholarship Committee recently held its annual awards program.

Every year since 1993, the committee invites seniors from schools in and around Howard County to write an essay on peace and how to achieve it in today's world. The committee awards one and sometimes several scholarships to students they feel submitted the best essays on the subject.

This year's winners were Aaron Blessing from Kokomo High School, Adalynn Seal of Tri-Central High School and Madison Wagner from Carroll High School. Each received a $500 scholarship to help with their future college expenses. The Peace Scholarship Committee is sponsored by members of the Historic Peace Churches, the Brethren, Friends and Mennonite congregations of Howard and Miami counties.
