PCSO: Eagle Lake man dies two days after being hit while crossing U.S. 17

A pedestrian who was struck by a car near Bartow early Friday morning has died of his injuries, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Angel Marchese, 31, of Eagle Lake died at a hospital on Sunday after being treated for head trauma and a broken femur, the PCSO said in a news release.

The crash occurred about 5:20 a.m. Friday at U.S. 17 North and Airport Boulevard, northeast of Bartow, PCSO said. A preliminary investigation determined that Marchese was attempting to cross U.S. 17 and walked into the path of a brown 2012 Audi Q7 sedan.
