Palm Coast man critically injured in motorcycle crash on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County

A 39-year-old Palm Coast motorcyclist was critically injured in a traffic crash in St. Johns County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 11:10 p.m. Sunday near the 308 mile marker on Interstate 95, the FHP stated.

The motorcyclist was traveling south; ahead of him was a 24-year-old Ormond Beach man driving an SUV. A 16-year-old Ormond Beach girl was a passenger in the SUV.

The motorcyclist began to quickly maneuver between the left lane and center lane between vehicles, cutting through other traffic, the FHP stated.

But the motorcyclist was unable to maneuver between the SUV and another vehicle and the front of the motorcycle struck the rear of the SUV, the FHP stated.

The motorcyclist then lost control and was thrown from the cycle, the FHP stated.

The motorcyclist was flown to Orange Park Medical Center with critical injuries, the FHP stated.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were not injured.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. The driver and passenger in the SUV were wearing seatbelts.
