Palm Beach Insider: Generosity to The Lord’s Place celebrated at Palm Beach home

The Lord’s Place saluted the members of its two giving societies at a reception hosted by Cornelia and Richard Thornburgh.

The event took place Feb. 13 at the Thornburghs' home and honored the donors to its Home Today Society and Home Forever Society, as well the members of the agency's board of directors.

The evening included wine and hors d'oeuvres from Joshua Catering and brief remarks from CEO Diana Stanley.

Stanley expressed her gratitude to the attendees for their support in the Home for Good campaign, which raised more than $20 million to open the doors to the Fortin Family Campus client service center in June 2023 and increase the agency’s supportive housing inventory.

"We are so blessed to have you in our world," Stanley said. "You allow us to love those that nobody else will love, so they feel as worthy and as loved as all of us in this room.”

The Home Today Society comprises 172 members who donate $5,000 or more annually to The Lord’s Place. In the 2022-23 fiscal year, those members collectively gave more than $3.8 million.

The Home Forever Society is a group of legacy donors who have included The Lord's Place in their estate planning.

Stanley also announced the new Home for Keeps campaign, an initiative to sustain the agency's future by ensuring that vital programs continue despite any fluctuation in funding sources.

More than 95 people attended, including William Browne, Payson and Kim Coleman, Mazie Livingston Cox, John and Lisa Cregan, Paul and Sue Efron, Rosemary and Carlos Ferrer, Helen and Brian Fitzgerald, Ellen Kaufmann, Nancy Madden, Richard Salomon and Laura Landro, MM and Wes Lang, Sherri Stephenson, Jamie Stern, John and Marree Townsend, and Charles and Donna Ward.

Proceeds from the evening assist The Lord's Place in its mission to break the cycle of homelessness in Palm Beach County through innovative, compassionate and effective services.
