NYC free 10-week health care job training program

THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) — A new program in the Bronx offers a free 10-week training and internship in health care, according to the new Jobs NYC portal.

Phipps Neighborhoods runs the program in conjunction with Hostos Community College and Montefiore Medical Center. The goal is to train and hire community members through a 10-week program.

The program consists of three weeks of in-class learning and six weeks of an internship. Participants will then be offered interviews and job opportunities.

The free program also offers the following:

  • Earn up to $750 in stipends

  • On-site internship training with hospital partners

  • Job readiness workshops curated for the health care industry

  • In-program CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Post-program certification opportunities at Hostos

  • Post-program job placement opportunities in the health care industry

PIX11 News reached out to Phipps Neighborhoods but they would not provide additional details about the $750 in stipends.

New Yorkers interested in the program need to meet the following eligibility requirements, according to the Jobs NYC portal:

  • Be 18 to 30 years old

  • Have an interest in health care

  • Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency

  • Pass a drug test by the start of the internship

  • Pass a background check by the start of the internship

  • Be fully vaccinated

  • Be available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
