Outdoor/active TJMaxx retailer, ‘Sierra,’ opening in Overland Park
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A new Sierra store is opening in Overland Park next week, and here is everything you need to know.
Sierra is a multi-channel, off-price retailer part of the TJMaxx family of brands (TJMaxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and HomeSense). It is said to provide brands with “great value” within active, outdoor and lifestyle spaces.

According to Sierra, it is “the go-to retailer for those seeking out great savings on top active and outdoor brands for the entire family.
“With its wide array of apparel, footwear and gear — all available at up to 60% less than department and specialty store prices — Sierra is a one-stop-shop for everything from hiking, camping and kayaking to at-home workouts, yoga and travel necessities.”
The new storefront is set to open on Saturday, May 18 at Bluhawk Marketplace — located only a half-mile from Route 69 at 7860 West 161st Street. The grand opening will feature music from a local DJ, as well as fun games and giveaways for shoppers.
This is the second location to open in the state, with the first store being in Wichita.
As a brand centered around the outdoors and active lifestyles, Sierra also has many environmental initiatives that it has implemented and plans to implement into its day-to-day business operations.
According to Sierra’s website, the brand is “reducing our carbon footprint and environmental impacts by pursuing initiatives that are good for the environment and help us to achieve our shared goals.”

Net Zero greenhouse emissions by 2040
Source 100% renewable energy by 2030
Divert 85% of operation waste from landfills by 2027
As well as this, Sierra has even donated $10,000 to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City to support and offer children comprehensive care, research and mental health initiatives.
Sierra will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, however, normal hours are Monday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sundays are open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
