Only 30% of residents say quality of life is good in NYC: survey
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Only 30% of New Yorkers say the quality of life in the city is good or excellent – roughly the same amount of people who say the quality life is poor, according to a new study from the Citizens Budget Commission.
The survey, which includes responses from over 6,000 households in New York City, found that residents feel much worse about the city than they did in the commission’s 2017 survey.

Of course, a little cash can change things in New York City. Households with incomes over $200,000 were the most satisfied with the city, the survey found.
People in Manhattan were, as a whole, more satisfied than other boroughs – with people from the Bronx expressing the least content with the city. White New Yorkers showed the most satisfaction with quality of life in the city.
White New Yorkers also reported feeling safest in almost all surveyed scenarios.
“I know New Yorkers are feeling a certain way right now, but this is New York,” Mayor Eric Adams said of the survey Tuesday. “8.3 million people, 35 million different opinions.”
Despite a relatively low vote of confidence in government services, Adams drew attention to the fact his administrative priorities “by and large aligns with New Yorkers’ priorities,” including public safety, housing, clean streets, parks and public spaces, according to the survey findings.
“However, the gap between how New Yorkers rate the quality of life and City services now and their past ratings is huge. A great deal of progress needs to be achieved to return to prior levels of satisfaction,” the commission wrote.
