One dead in north Austin shooting, APD says

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin Police said a man died Sunday night after being shot at a north Austin apartment complex.

Police said no one was in custody and had no description of a suspect as of early Monday morning.

According to APD, multiple people called 911 about the shooting at the Villas Del Sol apartment complex on Rutland Drive around 8:40 p.m. That is near Metric Boulevard and West Rundberg Lane.

Police said officers arrived shortly afterward and found a man outside in his 30s with “obvious signs of trauma.” Police identified the man as 39-year-old Lowen Alberto Ordonez Lobo.

According to police, the man died at the scene despite the life-saving efforts of first responders.

This is Austin’s 18th homicide this year.

Detectives are asking for anyone with any information to come forward, an APD release said.
