One dead, nine hospitalized after car crashes into Milwaukee County bus Saturday night

A car crashed into a Milwaukee County bus Saturday night, killing a passenger in the car and sending several bus passengers to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The 29-year-old driver of the car was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for life-threatening injuries, according to the Milwaukee Police Department. Charges are pending review by the district attorney's office.

Another passenger of the car was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures. A third, 33-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 54-year-old bus driver did not have injuries, though the seven passengers on board had minor or non-life threatening injuries. One was treated at the scene, and the others were transported to a hospital.

The crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday night. The car was traveling south at West Wisconsin Avenue and North 35th Street when it crashed into the bus, which was heading east.

The Saturday night crash is the second in two days that sent bus passengers to the hospital. On Thursday night, a speeding driver died after running a red light and hitting a Milwaukee County bus. Two passengers and the 34-year-old bus driver were taken to a hospital, along with two car passengers.

That crash also happened along North 35th Street and West Capitol Drive.
