OKC invites residents to give input on MAPS 4 BRT routes

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The City of Oklahoma City is inviting residents to attend any of the upcoming six open houses and to share their feedback on the recommended route for the MAPS 4 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridors.

The BRT is a high-frequency and customer friendly direct bus transit service that will operate like a light rail.

MAPS 4 BRT is included in $61 million to build two EMBARK operated BRT corridors located in South and Northeast OKC.

The recommended routes have been developed to connect the Adventure District to the industrial park near the Amazon logistic facility. This has been based on two previous rounds of engagement from the public and stakeholders of the OKC community.

The project team was able to hear from residents through two previous series of open houses, pop-up events, online, and map survey. Residents were able to share their input on community needs which included reliable services, access to healthcare and education facilities, connections to employers, service in key districts and neighborhoods, and service for disadvantaged populations.

The upcoming open houses will inform OKC residents on the BRT and will allow its community members to give their input before the final recommended route is adopted.
