Ocean City gets new bar and ice cream shop, Salisbury loses beloved jewelry store

With summer right around the corner, business continues to boom on the Eastern Shore. From ice cream shops to barbeque restaurants to neighborhood pizzerias, the Delmarva Peninsula has it all.

After almost 12 years of serving the Salisbury community with fine jewelry for every occasion, Kyle Edward Fine Jewelry’s store in Salisbury is closing permanently. In order to liquidate inventory, the jewelry store is hosting a sale, with savings up to 70% off custom jewelry featuring diamonds, gold, gemstones and more.

Kyle Bounds and his wife opened Kyle Edward Fine Jewelry in Bounds' hometown of Salisbury in 2013. The closure of the Salisbury store will allow the jewelers' team to focus on offering an elevated selection and next-level services at their Easton location, 27 S Harrison St. which will remain open, said the jewelers in a news release.

“We tap into the personal side of jewelry, creating pieces as memoirs or reflections of events past and present. Over the last 12 years, I have developed so many positive relationships with clients, which I hope to continue at the Easton store," said Bounds, who thanks the community for its support and invites everyone to Easton.

The building that previously housed The Salad Box during the 2023 summer season is now home to A-La Cone. The brand-new ice cream shop is located on Coastal Highway at 125th Street in Ocean City, right next to Sunsations.

A-La Cone is serving up "bubbly delight in every bite," according to its Instagram. Its menu includes 12 PopCe's homemade ice cream flavors available on warm bubble cones, as well as fruity refresher drinks.

A brand-new bar is coming soon to downtown Ocean City. Jackspot, located at 306 Dorchester St. at what was once The Marina Deck, is now hiring for various positions as it prepares for its official grand opening.

"Come aboard at Jackspot, the newest gem in downtown Ocean City, Maryland! With stunning bay views, a rooftop vibe and a lively coastal atmosphere, we offer a workplace like no other," Jackspot said in a May 15 Facebook post.

Ledo Pizza has opened a second location at 12641 Ocean Gateway in West Ocean City at the White Marlin Mall's former Taco Bell and KFC. In addition to handcrafted pizza, the pizzeria is also serving up strombolis, calzones, wings, salads, desserts and much more.

After chowing down on a fresh pizza pie, customers can check out the pizzeria's dessert bar area, which features cookies, brownies, cupcakes and coffee. Ledo Pizza is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Mission BBQ is officially open for business at Rehoboth Beach's Tanger Outlets: Seaside. The beloved barbeque restaurant, located at36461 Seaside Outlet Drive #1920 next to the Xfinity store, is the third to open in Delaware.
