NWS confirms tornado in Coyne Center, IL just South of Quad Cities

Meteorologists from the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities have been busy surveying storm damage from Friday morning tornadoes and straight-line winds all day long.

And now, we have confirmation (as expected) there was a tornado that caused damage in Coyne Center, IL about 7 miles South of the Quad Cities. This tornado continued off and on into the Colona area.

Early reports indicate the tornado was rated at least an EF-1, which puts winds in the 86-110 mph range. It’s possible that rating gets raised when the final report comes out.

This is the 4th tornado confirmed from our area on Friday.
