North Park convenience store robbed at gunpoint

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A Speedway convenience store was held up by an armed robber Wednesday morning, authorities said.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a Black man believed to be in his 20s entered the store, located at 3255 University Ave., around 2:50 a.m.

Drive-by shooting sends boy to the hospital

The suspect reportedly approached the front counter and pulled out a gun, police said. The suspect then asked the clerk to help him with the register. The clerk opened the register and placed the cash drawer on the counter.

According to police, the suspect then took a handful of bills from the cash drawer and left the business. He was last seen heading eastbound from the Speedway on foot.

The clerk was not harmed during the incident, police said.

The suspect was described as standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white shoes.
