North Carolina man accused of traveling to Cumberland County for sex with minor

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A North Carolina man is accused of traveling to Cumberland County to have sex with a minor.

Brayan Garcia-Vazquez, 23, faces over a dozen of charges that include felony counts of rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, and unlawful contact with a minor, according to online court documents.

East Pennsboro Township Police said that Garcia-Vazquez was arrested in North Carolina and is awaiting to be extradited to Pennsylvania

According to the criminal complaint, the investigation into Garcia-Vazquez began after the girl’s mother reported there was an inappropriate video on her daughter’s cell phone. The video allegedly depicted the girl and Garcia-Vazquez having sex when she was 12 years old.

Police were told by the girl she did not know Garcia-Vazquez’s name but she knew he was from another state and he traveled to the Midstate to partake in sexual acts. According to the complaint, she told Garcia-Vazquez she was a minor.

There were two times Garcia-Vazquez and the minor had sex at an Enola home and he recorded them one of the times, police said in the charges filed.

A preliminary hearing will be scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Sanderson when Garcia-Vazquez is brought to Pennsylvania.
