COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Physics professor and recent Nobel laureate Pierre Agostini returned to Ohio State University on Wednesday, and his colleagues put their hands together for him: a clap-in for Agostini, who accepted his medal in Sweden in December.

At Wednesday’s event, Agostini donated a replica medal to Ohio State to display in the physics research building.

Agostini is the first sitting OSU faculty member to be individually recognized as a Nobel laureate, with his work on how electrons move around earning him the pirze.

He accepted Wednesday’s applause with humility.

“That was incredible,” Agostini said. “I mean, I don’t know, I felt like I’ve been elected president or something.

The Nobel winner said one of the highlights of the event was signing an autograph for Brutus Buckeye.
