NLCS students attend health and wellness event at Parkview

Health science student Katie Godlevske took Lincoln Elementary student Vincente Mack's blood pressure Tuesday. Godlevske was part of the North Lawrence Community Schools Health and Wellness event at Parkview Intermediate School.

All NLCS students from Pre-K through 12th grade were eligible to attend. Free health screenings, vision checks, mental health resources, health insurance navigation assistance, and other activities, with free food, games, and giveaways were included.

Sponsors of the event include the Bedford Rotary Club, Hoosier Hills Credit Union, the IU School of Nursing, and many others.

IU Health School Health Coordinator Meagan Shipley is one of the organizers of the event, which is in its first year.

"We wanted to host health organizations that serve NLCS students. I think we have over 30 vendors. We'll see how many people show up. We hope that this is something families find value in, so we can make this an annual event " Shipley stated.
