Nice couple of days expected before unsettled weather moves in late week

We’ll keep some cloud cover around for awhile today as a cold front moves through the area. That will switch our winds to the north later today with gusts around 20-25mph for a little while this afternoon. However, winds relax a bit through the night and into tomorrow, so we get to enjoy at least a day without breezy conditions for Wednesday! Highs for the next couple of days will be in the 70s.

Things get more active by the end of the week with a stronger southerly wind and increasing cloud cover by Thursday. The next best chance for showers and storms moves in by late Wednesday and into Thursday as the first of two upper level systems begins to move in. There may be some strong or severe storms Thursday in our far western counties, but the better chance to see that kind of activity will be in Western Kansas and down into Oklahoma and Texas.

We’ll have another chance for storms Friday afternoon and evening as the system continues to move eastward. More of these may end up being strong or even severe across Eastern Kansas, but we’ll keep you updated as we get a bit closer as there’s still time for things to change.

By the end of the week our temperatures will eventually make it into the upper 70s and lower 80s. Additional rounds of storms are also possible for Saturday and Sunday afternoon/evening hours.
