Neighbors shocked after alleged attempted murder fire at Dothan home
DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) — Tragedy struck one home in the quiet neighborhood of Rosewood Drive in Dothan over the weekend.
“It’s a big shock to see what came about,” Rosewood Drive resident, Al Hyrn said.
Police say Keith Cleveland went to a home his ex-girlfriend was staying at in the 100 block of Rosewood Drive just after midnight on Saturday.
When Cleveland arrived, investigators say he threatened one of the victims and then slashed the tires of a truck inside the garage before setting the truck on fire.
The fire spread through the garage and into the house, and by the time the first responders arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames.

At the time of the fire, two people were inside. Luckily neither of them was injured by the blaze
However, the home sustained serious damage with big pieces of the roof burnt to a crisp and debris littering the floor of the newly purchased home.
“One of the neighbors down the street said they had just moved in that Friday during the day,” Hyrn said. “How much they got in the house? Who knows, but it’s a shame. It was the guy’s first house he could buy.”
Neighbors in the community tell WDHN News that they believe the local Red Cross assisted the family and found the couple a place to stay at an area hotel for the time being after an incident that is pretty uncommon in this Dothan neighborhood.
“The neighborhood is real good here, quiet, and we were as surprised as anybody to see what happened Friday night,” Hyrn said.
Police were able to arrest Cleveland the same day and charge him with two counts of Attempted Murder. He is being held in the Houston County Jail on a $120,000.
