National Crime Victims’ Rights Week recognized by the West Virginia Department of Human Services

CHARLESTON, WV (WVNS) — April 21, 2024 through April 27, 2024 is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is recognized by the West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS), the Bureau for Social Services (BSS), as well as other partners nationwide. It acknowledges those who offer services to crime victims, raises awareness about the services and rights that crime victims have, and honors crime survivors and victims.

This week stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to stand with victims and survivors, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights upheld. We honor the dedication of those who have helped establish victim rights to guarantee that all victims have access to the rights and services they need to recover from crime.

Infant Immunization Week recognized by the West Virginia Department of Health

People are advised to learn many things about victimization, such as ways to help crime victims, promoting programs, laws, and policies, and the effects that victimization has on people, as well as their friends, family, and members of the community.

Elizabeth Street received an award at the 23rd Annual Operation Reach Out ceremony from William Thompson, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia for her work in a recent court case. Street is a Child Protective Services (CPS) worker with the Bureau for Social Services.
