Nashville’s ‘Most Wanted’ child rape suspect arrested after 2-year manhunt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — One of the longest standing suspects on Nashville’s “Top 10 Most Wanted” list was taken into custody this week on several child sexual abuse charges.

Anthony Dewayne Spicer Jr., 27, was one of the first people to appear on the “Most Wanted” list after the program was launched in October 2022. According to police, the list is reserved for some of the “most violent” offenders in the city.

In November 2021, Spicer was indicted on charges for child rape, three counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of solicitation of a minor. The alleged sexual abuse happened between Sept. 22, 2020, and Jan. 8, 2021.

The indictment states that Spicer communicated with the victim, who was less than 13 years old at the time, beforehand in order to “command, request, hire, persuade, invite, or attempt to induce” the victim to engage in sexual conduct.

According to investigators, Spicer “knew or should have known” the victim was underage. Spicer remained on the run for nearly two years before he was taken into custody on Thursday, April 18 outside of Davidson County.

He was brought back to Nashville and booked into jail around 6 p.m. on Thursday. Jail records show Spicer is being held on a $600,000 bond. He is now among at least 100 “Most Wanted” suspects who have been arrested since October 2022.

Investigators have attributed the program’s success to tips from the public. To see this week’s list of the “Top 10 Most Wanted” fugitives out of Nashville, click here.
