New name, same goal: Macon children’s hospital joins unified brand, changes name

Central and South Georgia’s first and only children’s hospital has been renamed to Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital.

Last week, all pediatric care services at Atrium Health Navicent were unified under the Levine Children’s brand in efforts to continue providing high-quality pediatric care to children throughout the Carolinas and Georgia, the health care organization said.

“The extension of the Atrium Health Levine Children’s name is the logical next step to optimize and continue to build the best of our pediatric services across the Southeast,” Dr. Stacy Nicholson, president of Atrium Health Levine Children’s, said in a news release.

Atrium pediatric outpatient facilities, such as primary care offices, emergency departments and specialty clinics will also adopt the new Levine Children’s name, according to the press release.

Atrium said this new structure will represent reaching a new milestone in pediatric health care by enabling pediatric patients, their families and their support networks to receive care closer to home in a seamless manner.

“Being part of Atrium Health Levine Children’s allow our young patients to continue to receive excellent health care from central and south Georgia’s only dedicated children’s hospital while also receiving easy access to more — more pediatric specialists, more groundbreaking treatments and research and more access to clinical trials — all while remaining close to home,” said Dr. Sanford Duke, Atrium Health Navicent’s chief clinical officer.

The Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital opened in 2019, offering Macon’s only dedicated 24/7 pediatric emergency room, as well as neonatal intensive care and pediatric critical care.

Two facilities also joined Atrium Health Levine Children’s: Brenner Children’s Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte.

Together, the three hospitals provide more than 703,000 primary care and 481,000 specialty care visits annually.

They also offer more than eight neonatal intensive care units, 668 beds and more than 900 pediatric providers.

Atrium said the alignment will also allow the hospitals to continue focusing on providing the best experience for children by prioritizing support services like child life, music therapy and pet therapy.

Nicholson said the unified brand aligns its expert pediatric care under one, nationally recognized name and offers everything parents need for complete children’s health care.

“We are thrilled to now align under the same name,” she said. “To put it simply, the care our families have come to trust has not and will not go away. Rather, it’s strengthening by bringing together great care we are all already providing.”
