Motorcyclist dies after crash on Interstate 83 in northern York County: state police

A 20-year-old motorcycle rider died Wednesday at a hospital after suffering serious injuries in a crash on Interstate 83 in northern York County, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The rider was pronounced deceased at Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Cumberland County, state police said.

His name has not been released at this time.

State police were notified around 1:05 p.m. Wednesday about a motorcycle crash on I-83 South near mile marker 32.3 in Newberry Township, a news release states.

The right lane of the highway will remain shut down for an extended period of time, the release states.

State police are investigating the crash.

Second fatal crash on I-83 this week

This is the second fatal crash involving a motorcycle on the highway in northern York County this week.

Issaiha Seiders, 21, of Halifax died Sunday in a crash on I-83 North near the Fishing Creek interchange (Exit 36) in Fairview Township, according to state police and the York County Coroner's Office.

A passenger on the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was flown to Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, state police said.

The two-vehicle collision occured as a Ford Fusion merged into the center lane as the motorcycle was trying to pass it, state police said.
