Montgomery County student charged as adult for bringing gun to high school

CLARKSBURG, Md. (DC News Now) — A high school student was arrested and charged for bringing a gun to school Tuesday.

Montgomery County police responded to Clarksburg High School around 11:30 a.m., after a witness reported a 16-year-old student to school security for having a gun.

Bomb threats made against Maryland schools not credible

That student allowed officers to search him. Police found an unloaded gun.

The Montgomery County Department of Police charged the student as an adult with possession of a firearm. He was also facing charges of underage possession of a firearm and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.

He was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was waiting for a bond hearing.
