Mobile man arrested after Mississippi carjacking, kidnapping: GCSO

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WKRG) — A Mobile man was arrested Sunday in Mississippi after he allegedly stole a vehicle with four passengers inside, according to the George County Sheriff’s Office.

A GCSO news release said a woman called the sheriff’s office early Sunday to report her car had been stolen.

An adult and the victim’s children were reportedly in the vehicle.

“While checking on a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway on Highway 98 near the weigh station, the victim reported that a male jumped in her vehicle and took her vehicle along with her children and the adult occupant,” the release said.

George County deputies found and stopped the vehicle that Demetrius Young, 34, of Mobile, was driving, according to the news release. They took Young into custody and transported him to the George County Regional Correctional Facility.

Young is charged with carjacking and four counts of kidnapping.

His bond is set at $50,000 for carjacking and $50,000 for each kidnapping charge, totaling $250,000.

Young remains at the George County Regional Correctional Facility.
