Men allegedly yell racial slurs, shoot at car with 3-year-old inside

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men are in jail for allegedly calling a woman racial slurs and shooting at her husband’s car while their three-year-old son was inside.

Jairo Ibarra, 21, and Lucio Ibarra, 25, are both charged with two counts of aggravated assault-act in concert.

On March 24, officers say they responded to a shooting call at the Valero gas station at 4029 Frayser-Raleigh Road.

The victim stated that he and his wife were standing in the parking lot of their store when two males came out of the gas station nearby. The two males reportedly started calling his wife racial slurs.

MPD says both males had pistols tucked between their arms and armpits. Both suspects got into a white Nissan Altima parked at the gas pump.

The driver of the Nissan Altima got out of the car and told both victims that he would come back and shoot up the place.

As the three men were pulling away, one of them opened the back passenger door and pointed a pistol at the male victim.

Reports state the male victim got in his car with his three-year-old son and began following the suspects to get their tag number.

When both vehicles got to Jackson Avenue and I-40, police say the same backseat passenger opened his door again and fired multiple shots at the victim and his son.

The victims did not get hit by the gunfire.

Police say the suspects continued southbound on Jackson Avenue and the victim returned to his store to call police.

On April 4, investigators interviewed the female victim and she was able to positively identify Jairo Ibbara as one of the armed suspects who threatened her and shot at her husband.

Jairo Ibarra and Lucio Ibarra are scheduled to appear in court Friday at 9 a.m.
